Some may call me a 'Colorist', though I don't really like labels. I would call myself an 'Emotional Colorist'. While my paintings are typically reflective of a meditative thought or personal symbolism, I also reflect the emotion of the landscape, the Landscape of the Soul. Most recently, I am using the flower form along with vivid colors to represent emotions and relationships. I also work as a plein air painter and enjoy travelling and painting on location throughout the world, most recently Hawaii. Hiking into remote locations adds special dimension. Art is sweat! Well then.. art is sweet too..
Since I accepted my first commission at the age of 15, I've been focusing on the “Landscape of the Soul”, the natural world, and how the soul interacts with the mystical qualities of the landscape. I'm a plein air (outdoor on location) painter and gain much of my inspiration from painting outdoors in the landscape, especially flowers and the sea. I'm a member of the California Art Club, Redondo Beach Art Group, SCAPE (Southern California Artists Painting the Environment), Oil Painters of America, and Palos Verdes Art Center. I am also proud to be listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for my participation in the 2010 Pasadena Chalk Art Festival, the world's largest chalk painting event. Commissions and studio visits are happily encouraged.
