Waves and Water
Ever since I was 18 months old, I have embraced the water, literally. My mom recalls me running directly into the ocean at Jones Beach, NY, when I was just a toddler. I haven't stopped since. I never grow tired of looking at the water- my paintings capture that essence of wonder and beauty in various media- oils, watercolor, and pastels. Many of my pieces are painted 'plein air' on location or even just outdoors.
This series is about using the image of the flower to portray feelings, emotions. and relationships through color. The backgrounds are equally important.. frequently I paint images that also express emotions tied to the subconscious.. I don't think about them, they just show up as I paint! What do you see?
I love to participate in Chalk Festivals! It's so much fun to create 'on the fly' and under pressure under the watchful eye of the public. Exhausting at times, yet exhilarating. There is something special about creating a work of art that is only temporary. It reminds us that every day is a gift.
