Anacapa Morning
I was fortunate to visit the back side of Anacapa Island on a plein air trip to the Channel Islands with artist David Gallup. This area is a breeding ground for seal lions. When we arrived at this scene, it was early morning, with a complete blanket of fog. As the morning wore on, we snorkled and kayaked with the sea lions. Just as we returned to the boat, the fog lifted and sun broke through the clouds, leaving this magnificent scene, which I have captured here in pastel. The vibrancy of pastel colors is unmatched! This piece was painted on a terracotta colored background, which you can see peeking through the color and gives it a particular luminosity. Available framed or just under glass with spacers between artwork and glass-- ready for any commercial frame.
